Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is WorkingSm@rt® with Microsoft Teams & Planner?

WorkingSm@rt® with Microsoft Teams & Planner is a practical productivity course that teaches teams how to plan, assign and track work more effectively using Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner. Rather than simply explaining software features, the course introduces proven ways of working that improve visibility, accountability and collaboration across projects and everyday team activities.

2. Who should attend the WorkingSm@rt® with Microsoft Teams & Planner course?

This course is ideal for managers, team leaders, project coordinators and professionals responsible for planning or overseeing projects and shared work. It's particularly valuable for organisations that want to improve team collaboration, manage workloads more effectively and create greater visibility of tasks across departments.

3. What is Microsoft Planner?

Microsoft Planner is a shared task management application within Microsoft 365 that enables teams to organise work, assign tasks, set deadlines and monitor progress. When integrated with Microsoft Teams, Planner provides a central location for managing projects, tracking responsibilities and keeping everyone aligned.

4. How do Microsoft Teams and Planner work together?

Microsoft Teams and Planner complement each other by combining communication with task management. Teams provides the space for collaboration and discussion, while Planner tracks tasks, deadlines and responsibilities. WorkingSm@rt® teaches participants how to use both applications together to create a consistent and transparent way of managing work.

5. How can Microsoft Planner improve team productivity?

Microsoft Planner helps teams stay organised by making work visible to everyone involved. Team members can see what needs to be done, who's responsible and when tasks are due. WorkingSm@rt® builds on this by introducing practical workload management techniques that help teams prioritise work, reduce duplication and improve accountability.

6. Can Microsoft Planner replace spreadsheets for task management?

In many cases, yes. While spreadsheets are often used to track projects, they can quickly become outdated and difficult to maintain. Microsoft Planner provides a live, collaborative environment where tasks, deadlines and progress are updated in real time. WorkingSm@rt® helps organisations transition to more effective ways of managing work using Microsoft 365.

7. Does the course cover workload management?

Yes. One of the key objectives of the course is helping teams balance workloads more effectively. Participants learn how to prioritise work, assign realistic deadlines, monitor progress and identify potential bottlenecks before they become problems. This improves both productivity and team wellbeing.

8. How does Microsoft Copilot work with Teams and Planner?

Microsoft Copilot can help summarise project updates, identify outstanding tasks, generate status reports and capture actions from meetings. However, AI delivers the greatest value when tasks are already organised and teams follow consistent ways of working. WorkingSm@rt® provides the framework that enables Copilot to support project delivery rather than simply automate administration.

9. How is WorkingSm@rt® with Microsoft Teams & Planner different from standard Microsoft Planner training?

Traditional Planner training focuses on creating plans and managing tasks within the application. WorkingSm@rt® goes further by teaching practical ways of planning, assigning, communicating and monitoring work across teams. Participants learn how Microsoft Teams and Planner support a complete productivity system that improves collaboration, accountability and project delivery.

10. What results can organisations expect after completing this course?

Organisations typically benefit from greater visibility of work, clearer ownership of tasks, improved communication and stronger collaboration across teams. Employees gain confidence in managing projects and day-to-day work using Microsoft Teams and Planner, helping to reduce missed deadlines, duplicated effort and unnecessary meetings.
