AI won’t fix broken work habits. HR must lead the change.

McKinsey’s recent HR Monitor 2026 article makes an important point: HR is at a turning point as AI cannot fix broken work habits.

Economic pressure, AI disruption and changing employee expectations are exposing major gaps in how organisations plan capabilities, build skills, manage performance and scale AI adoption.

For us at Priority Management, one conclusion stands out:

AI transformation will not succeed unless organisations also modernise the way people work.

Many companies are investing heavily in Microsoft 365, Teams and Copilot. But too many employees are still working in fragmented, reactive ways with overloaded inboxes, scattered Teams chats, unclear task ownership, too many meetings and inconsistent file-sharing habits.

Copilot can summarise a meeting, draft an email or extract actions.

But it cannot decide whether the meeting was necessary. It cannot create team rules for when to use email, chat or Teams Channels. It cannot fix poor task visibility or unclear priorities.

AI can accelerate good working practices yes, but it can also accelerate poor ones.

That is where Priority Management helps.

Our WorkingSm@rt® programmes help organisations build the practical behaviours that sit underneath productivity, collaboration and AI adoption. We help people and teams use Outlook, Teams, OneNote, Planner, SharePoint and Copilot in more consistent, measurable and sustainable ways.

For HR and L&D leaders, the key question is no longer:

“Do our people know how to use the technology?”

The better question is:

“Do our people have the right ways of working to get real value from the technology?”

Priority Management helps answer that question through diagnostics, modular training and manager reinforcement leading to:

  • reducing overload

  • improving collaboration

  • cutting unnecessary meetings

  • helping organisations move from AI experimentation to practical impact

The future of work will not be created by technology alone.

It will be created by better tools, better habits and better team standards working together.
